Stan Ray – American Workwear from Crockett, Texas
In 1972, Earl Beard founded Earl's Apparel in Crockett, Texas, specializing in fatigue pants and classic workwear. The family business later became Stan Ray – named after Earl's youngest son, Stanley Ray Beard. To this day, the core line is manufactured to military specifications: bartack reinforcements at stress points, triple-stitched seams, heavy cotton fabrics. Clothing that isn't supposed to just look like it's worked, but actually does.
The Pants
The A Pant is the modern silhouette in the range: wide leg, clean line, in Overdyed Cosmic Purple a color rarely seen. The Jungle Pant is directly based on military fatigue pants, with patch pockets and a straight fit. The Wide 5 is the 5-pocket denim variant with a distinctly wide leg, available from us in Stonewashed Black and Ice Stone. Plus the Major Cargo Pant in Olive. More in our Pants and Jeans.
Jackets
The Gas Jacket in Cosmic OD Hickory and the Coverall Jacket in 70s Stone Denim are the two workwear tops in the range – both straight-cut, both made for breaking in. More models in our Jackets.
Shirts & Sweats
The Patch Pocket T-Shirt in Cosmic Purple and Eucalyptus, the BBQ T-Shirt, the 3/4 Football T-Shirt, and the Tour Shirt in a striped design. Plus the Pepper Crew Sweater. More of these can be found under T-Shirts and Sweatshirts.
Sizes: Inches or S–XXL?
Pants come in waist sizes in inches (32, 34, 36), tops in M to XXL. If you know your jeans size, you can directly use it – Stan Ray fits true to size at the waist, the width is in the leg, not the waist.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Stan Ray come from?
From Crockett, Texas. The parent company Earl's Apparel was founded there in 1972, and the label is named after Stanley Ray Beard, the founder's son.
Does Stan Ray run large?
True to size at the waist. The legs vary in width depending on the model – the A Pant and Wide 5 are intentionally wide-cut, while the Jungle Pant has a straighter fit.
What is the difference between Painter Pant and Fatigue Pant?
Painter Pants come from craftsmanship and have tool pockets and a hammer loop. Fatigue Pants, like the Jungle Pant, originate from military uniforms and have large patch pockets.
How do I care for the items?
Wash cold, air dry. The heavy cotton fabrics will soften over time and develop the faded look the brand is known for.
